Being Single

So I'm going through divorce and have never really been single (had 2 long term relationships)...just wondering if anyone has any advice? I'm not looking for another relationship, but rather looking at enjoying my own company and the company of friends. It's just weird...apart from going for a ride on my bike and drawing, I don't get upto much.

If riding is what makes you happy, then go for it! It's insanely good for clearing your head!

I have lots of mates who have divorced both male and female.
Some have rushed into relationship s and others let things happen more slowly.
From my outside perspective those who took thier time have had more fun.

The only advice I can give you it seems you've already sussed.
Enjoy being single for a while and don't rush into anything.

Yeah, it's the loneliness that can get to me sometimes. I'm not one for going out meeting new people with the intention to test the water for a relationship...thats just not me...if it happens it should happen without looking

Well your never alone in here.
Loads of great folks ready to pick you up when feeling down.

And then there's always the open road.

Get to know yourself again and find out what it is you want in/from life. You soon find things that fill the time, lost hobbies, new friends & new roads to explore! Suddenly you may start to think that it's busy enough with your own life, let alone having to fit someone else in too :)

Yes, good idea, me and my husband still talk but I know I know what to go back there. He can't be just friends unfortunately.

Worse thing was...he never wanted to ride a bike!!!! lol

Enjoy yourself.

I mean, look at it this way. Relationships are abit of a compromise arent they. You do things because the other person wants to, etc etc

Being single isnt. No compromise, do what you want to do when you want to do it. Ride the bike as much as you want, eat what you want...

It is what you make of it. Enjoy yourself (:

If you want company, why not consider taking up a hobby or class or some sort? Photography? Painting? Pottery?

You'll meet people from walks of life you won't likely meet, there is no requirement to "date" and you'll have company.

Also, where are you based? There are lots of geographical facebook groups for bikers, based around location, go on a few rides, have some company, and again....No commitment.

I'm twice divorced. Yes, it sucks to be alone, but... Like you i'd rather be alone than unhappy. I'm fortunate that i'm in a relationship that suits me, but it took a very long time to get there.

One thing i learned along the way is if you can't be happy with yourself and your faults, no one else will be either.

Get out there. Try something new. Anything. Indoor skydiving, paintball, just go and have a good time and just entirely please yourself.

Don't be afraid to shout up on the org if you want to ride out somewhere too!
