Possible starting issues
Hi all,
Hopefully there are some electrical geniuses out there that can help. This may be a stupid question so I apologise in adavance. I have had some speedo issues on my k1 SV. I have taken the front wheel off and the rotor is fine so found a second hand sensor. While I'm waiting for it to arrive I have put everything back on the bike but left the Speedo, indicators and little light at the front unlugged. I have gone to start the bike up to check everything is ok after not running for a few months and it just makes a squeek. Any chance that the speedo is part of the electrical circuit so that it needs to be plugged in to start, or am I hoping for too much and actually will have other issues? |
Re: Possible starting issues
Have you had the battery on charge whilst your bike has been off road?

Re: Possible starting issues
No but I have charged it before I tried starting it

Re: Possible starting issues
Speedo isnt connected with any starting circuit, check you haven't dislodged any of the things like the clutch switch, its easily done.
Even if you charged the battery beforehand, it could still be goosed, these little batteries dont like being left for a long time. Mine did the same. Enough power to run the lights, but not enough to crank it over. |
Re: Possible starting issues
Yea I thought that might be the case. The battery is getting up to 12.5V but still not making any sound of nearly starting.
I will give everything a check over to make sure nothing else has come loose |
Re: Possible starting issues
Probably one or 2 cells gone in the battery
