I'm a slow rider. I've gained speeding tickets in two countries but these days I'm content to meander around Lincolnshire's empty country lanes. My shortest journey is 25 miles with negligible town traffic.

I have just filled up my AL7 SV, it had just started flashing the petrol pump icon at 197 miles covered and it was predicting I had 48 miles to go before being empty. The result: 80.7 mpg, the previous 3 tankfulls were 79/79/80 so it's not a fluke. (I was getting mid 70's mpg over the winter).

I've owned 2 curvy 650S models and I thought they were economical at 65-68 mpg, I wonder what an AL7 would do with a fairing?

I've now had the bike for one year/8200 miles and I still think it is one of the best value for money bikes on the market (I may be biased). I frequent Willingham Woods (200 + bikes on a sunny Sunday) and, over the last year, I've not seen another AL7 (but I've only seen 2 MT07s - I guess small bikes aren't popular in Lincs).

i think your doing your calculations wrong.

245miles (197+48) / 14.5l (full tank) = 16.9mpl x 4.546 (UK Gal) = 76.8mpg

still impressive mpg :-)

I thought the tank was 18 litre on the pointy.

Re: Ymmv

My calculations: I was in error when I wrote 197 miles with 48 remaining. When I filled up it was 200 miles with 45 remaining. I only count the miles I have covered, not the prediction from the bike and go full tank to full tank from the same pump, same petrol station. If you're picky the temperature would be different so the volume occupied would vary and thus throw off the calculation.

I filled up with 11.26 litres and I use 1 litre = 0.22 gallon (I know it's really 0.219969). 11.26 x 0.22 = 2.4772
200/2.4772 = 80.73 mpg.

So, still 80.7 mpg.

your correct with 200 miles for 11.26lt = 80.8mpg (17.76mpl)

the best i have done on my pointy is 70.9mpg (15.6mpl) worst is 55.18mpg (12.14mpl) i always look at filling up at around 180miles.

I normally get mid to high 70's mpg from my AL7 - delighted with it all round. Don't know why testers always say MT-07 is a wheely machine and feels more powerful than the AL7 when the 0 - 60, standing 1/4 and 0 -100 tell a different story.

yeah, I think because of 90deg V twin the Suzuki is a longer bike as well as having lower CofG
