Moto Morini Milano

Another Italian V-twin, it was released a couple of years ago but then went a bit quiet. It's an 87° V (why not 90?) and is 1187cc/108 bhp. This is the special:

which costs about £15k, the normal version costs about £13500.

The engine was designed by the same guy that produced the engine for the MM 3 1/2 (for those with long memories). A 3 1/2 shows up at Willingham Woods on a regular basis - I always thought seeing 3 1/2 on the side of the bike (in large numbers) looks odd compared to 350 but maybe that's just me.

I like the look of that, it has nice echoes of the classic 3 1/2s from the 70s. The only negative thing for me is the Ducati-lookalike exhausts, they should've done something a bit different there.

In the mid-90s I test-rode a 1979 Strada 3 1/2 at North Leics Motorcycles, cracking bike at the time. Such a friendly bike, and handling / brakes were as good as they're reputed to be.

In many ways the naked SV is the bike that Morini should have been building, they are the logical extension of the MM500.

Another nice looking bike was the Cagiva Raptor, using Suzuki V twin, didn't get the sales it should have IMHO

Always wanted one, I nearly bought a 3 1/2 as my first bike big bike, but bought a CX500 instead!

I almost bought one of those instead of my SV as someone was selling one very close to home. The mechanic I was using at the time put me off saying the engine is a reliable SV one, but apparently the electrics were very hit and miss.
