Urgent help needed, dead sv650s 2005

I have a problem with my bike and a few people have looked an scratched there heads over it, basically what's happening is I'm turning my key to the on position and there is nothing happening. brand new battery, new fuses all around, IV checked for bad earth's and everything with the volt meter checks out fine... Can you shed any light on it? All fuses are fine. It's an sv650s 2005, I'm baffled

Can you bump start it at all?

nothing happening as in no display, butterflies setting or pump priming?
try the voltmeter across the switch wires in off and on position?

I don't have an SV any more, but here's where I would start when there's no electrical power on the bike.

1) pull the main the fuse and check it with a meter. As far as I remember it's not in the fuse box but next to the battery. If it's blown you might have the battery connected backwards or a failed rectifier diode.

Once you have checked this, my preferred tool is a 5W indicator bulb connected to two crocodile clips. This is a better test for 12V continuity than a DVM because it draws about 1/2 Amp so it will show up any dodgy connections.

2) If the main fuse is OK, use the 12V bulb to check that you have 12V on the battery side of the main fuse.
3) If that's OK insert the main fuse and use the bulb to confirm that you have 12V in the fuse box
4) Connect the bulb between frame and +12V on the battery (frame is usually connected to 0V)
5) Connect the bulb between the 0V connector block and +12V on the battery (corrosion is a common problem)

Hope this is some help,

Keith.

Unable to bump start just turns engine over, there's no lights or instruments when the keys turned,
The main fuse is fine IV checked that and my freind did the testing on the circuits n everything checked out

It's booked in at a garage on Thursday but a cheaper resolution would be better, got a new ignition barrel on order to rule that out completely... Should be here tomorrow I hope

Seems like you should check green connector under tank - although above thread turned out to be a duff battery.

Ok thank you all for your suggestions, all of the above have been checked apart from the ign barrel...

just test with the meter between the 2 ignition wires switched off and on, if its dead that will tell ya.

when you say you turn the ignition on and nothing happens, the dash does not even light up? if this worked fine before the new battery, Is it fitted correctly? Connections/Poles are the right way round?

Does the bike have, or did it used to have an aftermarket alarm?
