Exhaust popping shifting down
Hi guys,
Currently having an issue where the bike is popping more. I used to get the odd pop on deceleration but now I’m getting it on gearing down. I’ve recently had a top yoke conversion (few months ago) which might be related I don’t know. I’ve noticed the revs sometimes aren’t smooth idling which has stopped now. I’ve changed to premium fuel, again may not be related. Bike used to feel a bit more responsive when i ease off the throttle and get back on it, but again might be me looking for issues and they not being there. Any ideas what it might be? Seems to run Ok otherwise. I ran out of fuel about 4 month ago which embarrassingly might be unrelated I don’t know :D |
Re: Exhaust popping shifting down
Potentially an air leak in the system somewhere. Check the air box connections to the throttle bodies and make sure they're secure, and check the exhaust connection too form the end can to the tail pipe.

Cheers I’ll have a look

Re: Exhaust popping shifting down
I am in the middle of doing this now, i don’t really know what I’m looking for, so I need to completely remove the air box? I’ve taken the top off it and the filter. I don’t want to make more work of it that’s all. I’ve watched some videos but I’d rather ask than trial and error. Changing the spark plugs while I’m here

Re: Exhaust popping shifting down
did you take the throttle bodies off to change the throttle cables?

Re: Exhaust popping shifting down
I had the garage do the riser kit so I don’t know unfortunately. Was 90 quid and saved me the hassle, wish I’d done it myself now as one of my heated grips doesn’t work and I’ve no steering lock

Re: Exhaust popping shifting down
I can’t get the air box off as the clamp holding the top throttle body tube doesn’t have a screw accessible from the left or right. Can’t see a way of getting to it. Changed my spark plugs and calling it a day for today. Might take it back in to the garage as I’m out of my depth

i suspect the garage rushed it. all the switchgear and ignition connectors are on a bar at the front of the air box behind the headstock and are a right PITA to get too so i would guess someone has yanked a fair bit as the switchgear will not fit unless the connectors are disconnected from the bar. |
Re: Exhaust popping shifting down
It sticks out about 3mm from the top of the yoke

Re: Exhaust popping shifting down
there is a hole in the headstock at the front and you can see the ignition lock pin when its in the locked position. have a look to see where the lock pin is in relation to the hole. it could just be needing a washer or two under the spacers.
