Re: Winner

I have heard from others that the rest of the World is looking at the UK with complete confusion, they simply can't understand why we (the people) are letting the government degenerate into such a cesspit of bad behaviour and dragging the country's reputation with it.
The UK genuinely used to be viewed as a decent moral country, even by the rest of the EU countries, and could be relied upon to apply measured and rational reason and to exercise proberty and respect for honesty. Not any more, that has gone, and will take generations to recover (if ever).

Re: Winner

the country is almost bankrupt so those in power are grabbing as much cash. creating diversions takes the public's eye of the real problems. better to have ripped off the coffers then get sacked than face consequences.

you have to laugh when everyone was so upset with Trump but in reality he done nothing in comparison.

btw BJ is being used as the fall guy.

its about time the whole political shenanigan was re done.

no more political parties.
each constituency votes in a member to sit in "the commons".
no more opposition.
no more PM.
no more houses of commons as everything can be done via video conferencing.

the above would save the taxpayer a fortune never mind freeing up equity via "government" buildings.

I think I'd rate them about even.

Trump loaded the Supreme Court with young, conservative judges which will set the path of American society for years. Roe versus Wade allowed American women to have an abortion but for almost 50 years the Republicans have been trying to overthrow it, they now stand a chance. Through the Republican party (and Mitch Mc Connell in particular) they are gerrymandering voting districts to make it more likely Republicans will be elected. He discredited postal voting which poorer (Democrat) voters tend to use, simultaneously put a Trump supporter in charge of the US Postal Service (who immediately started dismantling post sorting machines to slow down mail in votes).

Worst of all he has made many Americans lose faith in their democracy with his constant "stop the steal" campaign and assertions that he never lost the election.

BoZo is far from innocent here. His casual disregard for rules and ethics has been taken on board by the whole government.

This is the man that has been fired multiple times for lying. He went to court to deny child support for one of his and (one of) his mistresses' kids.

Before he jumped on the Brexit bandwagon, whilst as a journalist, he wrote 2 articles - one praising the EU and one dismissing it and waited to see which way the wind was blowing. When the opportunity for advancement came along he decided to be a Brexiteer.

Something needs to change - there definitely needs to be a stronger, independent watchdog with serious powers to punish MPs for misconduct. "Breaking the Ministerial Code" is a joke.

It's simple, mandate a party's manifesto into law, whatever they say they will do, they have to. At present you can promise the earth then toss it in the bin as soon as you are elected.

or even better, make Voting mandatory under law as well - average under 70% of eligible people vote, that non voting 30% could make a huge variance in who gets in or not

Voting

I agree, it should be considered a civic duty. UK society asks very little of us by way of participation, the least we can do is vote.

First past the post elections need to go too.

Proportional representation?

Changes

Tory lose majority, SNP and LibDems get slaughtered. (and personally anything that destroys the SNP (Total control with under 35% of the vote) get's my vote!
