Stainless Bolts & Tank Raisers
 

Thought you guys may be interested in some stuff available for our SV's .

I,ve just ordered the Stainless Engine Bolts & the tanks raiser kit.

May be worth a look - this guy makes stuff himself and for others as he has an SV1000 - but has just included 650 stuff today.

Nice one. Not too expensive if you consider hunting around for the correct bolts. Nice and lazy.


Just one prob been nagging at me for a while. The tank has two rubber feet on each side which rest on the frame. I know the tank hinge is pretty strong, but they are sureley redundant if you raise the tank?

So maybe we need to consider some spacers there too?

Silly question I'm sure, but WHY would I want to raise the tank? :oops:

Hi Tris, Not a silly question at all ,and it wont be of interest to most , but here is why I am trying it just now -- the nirvana of a little more power.
Raising the tank allows a greater airflow to the airbox - thus potentially increasing the power the engine can provide - I stress this is all theory thus the emphasis on the potentially ...

It was a mod I had seen on my K1 SV650 when my Rene Airkit was installed so decided to try this for the K3 .. It is quite popular in some tuning circles - particularly for the SV1000.
I have a Power Commander installed , so have the facility to adjust the fuel injection mapping via a PC to make best use of all this potential airflow.
Its not going to make a huge difference I know - but hey - like a good many who use this forum ...I,m a fiddler ... :roll:

I think I've bought all of Chewy's product except the tank risers.

Hes also creating a total bolt replacement pack, which I'm looking forward to, so I can remove all the furry bolts on my 10month old SV1000S

Cos it's less effort to get the petrol nozzle into the tank. ;)

The real-world "advantage" is that you'll hear an induction roar as the air is drawn through the carbs and which is quite muffled with the tank firmly screwed down. It's an aestheitc thing again, just like the exhaust note. As for more power, well... yes I think it's a theoretical thing and in reality is pretty non-existant.

Mine don't touch down anyway, I wouldn't worry about it...

Spacers are really only relevant if you've already modded the exhaust and filter as far as you can, i think... Personally I think it makes the bike sound crap, but it might be that I need to do it anyway to get the most out of my mods...
