How Did You Break The Twins In???

Having just read the article at http://mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm , I was just wondering how others went about it with their new twins. I have only just crossed the 120 mile marker on mine and would like to know if anyone has any experiences other than running below 5k rpm for 600 miles?

:D [/url]

I did it by the Suzki book - according to some posts, the very first few miles are critical for the "thrash it to death" method, so having 120m on the clock may have missed that most critical process, if it's correct and you are bothered by that sort of thing. I think a mixture of gentle acceleration, engine braking and general varied riding speed won't see you go far wrong.

BTW are the mirror extenders worthwhile?

I did it by the book (ish) too... I did occasionally rise above the 5000 rpm mark, but only very occasionally

Hell yes... great bit of kit - makes you wonder why Suzuki doesn't fit them as standard really :!:

Gave 'em a good thrashing and then rode the hell out of them.

Took it gentle on the SV though!

I've been trying to do it by the book but have occasionally gone above the recommended 5k...just to get out of sticky situations and quick motorway entry. I just dont want to destroy the engine before I've had a chance to use the bike. The 1st 60miles or so have been strictly below the 5k on b-roads though.

Yeah, but the 68mph shuffle is just so flustrating isn't it :?:

I am just under the 750 mile mark after four weeks.

I followed my usual routine when running in. That is to generally ride within the recommended rev limit but to exceed it in quick bursts from time to time.

I usually kept it between 4,000 and 5,000 prior to the service but went up to 6,000 for brief periods. I even inadvertently once let it rip to 6,500 plus when overtaking.

I intend to push it a bit harder over the next 250 miles, riding up to 6,000 with bursts up to 7,000.
