After my ride out yesterday. The kids closed the garden gate so I had to get off before getting to the garage. As we live on a hill the bike was pointing uphill when I got off and I got a view that I had never seen before.

Looking down the back of the fairing at the (fairing nose) bracket it is corroding. Now I know SVs are a bit prone but this looks quite excessive.

Guess it goes on my list for the winter overhaul. Never having removed the front section of fairing is there anything to be aware of. Head light aim etc when I reassemble.

I was simply going to sandblast the bracket, a couple of coats of black hammerite. I can't see much point in spraying it as nobody sees it. Unless there is other parts that need repainting (sub frame) then I guess it is worth cleaning the spray gun for.

I hate painting small components as you spend more time cleaning the gun than actually painting them

My sub frame has starting turning brown. This winter I'll be doing some stripping and painting of my own, on the bike.

Steep enough to bump start the cage by letting the hand brake off.

Years ago I had my car roll away when I forgot to apply the handbrake before letting down the trolley jack. As it rolled down the drive the house was in the way to stop me getting the door open to apply it. Ran to back to stop it, NFC just had to let it go and watch it crash through the hedge across the road.
Fortunately it grounded when the back wheels were 6 ft above the neighbours car. just got him to sit on the bonnet. Got in and drove it out. Hedge sprang back and apart for a bad earth on the o/s rear light you would never know what had happened. Phew.
