Does "Torque" (the film) worry you?

I saw the film "Torque" the other day. To all intents and purposes, Fast and the Furious on bikes (even made by the same director, I believe...)
Now, the film is pretty silly and over the top (if reasonably entertaining in a mindless sort of way), but I just wonder if you consider it good or bad for biking in general.

If you haven't seen the film, it's essentially an OTT road racing movie with flash bikes. People riding like lunatics and some scenes that are so silly, they couldn't (you'd hope) possibly influence people.

I only ask, because I read that sales of NO2 were up 1100% (yes *11!) following the release of "The Fast and the Furious". Now, whilst Torque didn't do as well as FATF 1 or 2, I'm sure it will of influenced a few impressionable youngsters (and maybe some older folk too).

Personally, I think it'd be a real shame if we got some of the Max Power kiddies switching to bikes :?

P.S. Apologies if this has come up before, but obviously a search for "Torque" yeilded a few too many entries to check

Everything I've seen about the film makes me think option 1, but I haven't seen it yet, so can't say for sure.

I think we already have boy racer types on bikes. Admittedly, the situation could get alot worse, but at least on bikes people are less of a danger to those around them.

It worry's me a bit... as car drivers get The Fast and Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious... and what do we get?????

..... Torque!!!!

The people who'd be influenced by this kind of film will get killed riding their mopeds long before they aquire the aptitude for riding a machine that requires some skill

problem is theyre likely to take someone with them... and if the scooter boys in london are anything to go by it will be a biker...

True, but IMHO I'd say a higher proportion of the really fast bikers are more skilled than the fast car drivers. I have seen a couple of people on Blades/gixxers and thought, "God, he really shouldn't be on that; he'll kill himself", but then, for every one of those you see, there's at least half a dozen whose riding skills you admire. I tried to keep up with a pair of blokes on "proper" sportsbikes on the weekend and whilst they were absolutely flying along, overtaking traffic etc. not once (for the admittedly short time I maanged to keep them in sight ;)) did I see them do anything really dangerous. Compare that to Max'd car drivers and every other one will be overtaking when it's unsafe, skidding, etc.

There's no button for:

"I've heard so many bad reviews of this film I think it would be less painful if I were to sit down for a couple of hours with needles in my eyes"

Not seen it yet.

It's possibly the ridiculous film I have EVER seen - and not in a good way.
