SV Carb Question
Just bought a set of carbs from eBay. Stripped them down and found that they had been set up with 132 jets.
I had my old bike on the dyno and on a very hot day found that the best fueling was with 134s (that was before adding air filters, race systems, etc.) and I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone goes below the stock jets of 137.5 but... The only thing I can think of is that the 132 jets have been drilled out as I have seen this before. Anyone ever heard of a bike being setup with stock 132 jets? |
The other possibility is that the owner had fitted an aftermarket system that was so restrictive that jets had to go down. Or had nicely blocked air filter.

I removed the restriction, (legally), on a Yamaha a while back, which, along with an inlet restrictor, had been fitted with strangely small jets. I haven't heard of an SV being so fitted when restricted, but I suppose it's a possibility.

Different jet manufacturers' jets with the same number on them have different flow characteristics, the number in isolation isn't that useful. Not a real answer, but a caveat.
