better performance

Hello my children

One is looking for the cheapest way to improve the performance of one's new twin. She's a fine young filly but somewhat unrefined and less urgent than one would like. What would you fine fellows do to her first to squeeze out a little more grunt and make her a little more eager to lift the front?

One looks forward to hearing your predictions for an improved ride. :reaper:

i have done a race exhaust k&n and dyno jet, very smooth and no flat spots seems to be quicker. my advice though if you want front wheel up, get a tl1000

Ignition advancer, £25 or so plus more for the special tool (I have one but it's currently out on loan :)) and it makes a big difference in midrange power and response, which IMHO is where it's most useable. It's a DIY job to fit too.

Which SV is it? I'm kind of assuming it's the new, pointy one? Race system, and whatever filter/desnorkel works on a FI bike, would be a good step but far more expensive.

There's loads of engine work you can do, big-bore, high comp, etc etc, but it's all at the expense of reducing engine life and reliability... The standard figure is 85bhp as a maximum to keep an SV in the land of the living. Plus, shouldn't you still be running it in? :)

Putting an extra tooth on the rear sprocket lowers the gearing and gets you better acceleration and therefore more wheel-lifting, if that's your only goal, but you'll lose top end.

New springs and oil in the front is better than any amount of power mods imho, you can use what you have far better.

Which model are you talking about?
Original and best, with ooodles of character?
or pointy fuel injected EU sanctioned replacement?

Hi Bertie,
If you have a new model sv then fit a race pipe,k&n filter and get the ecu re-mapped. I think Coombest got 83 bhp by doing this. Pm him for a full rundown on how he went about livening up his "filly" 8)

If an old man wants to get it up, he should look at changing the sprockets. But you should already know that if you are mystic.

If fallen riders had consulted you earlier, maybe they wouldnt have fallen off :?

The cheapest way to increase performance is without a shadow of doubt The Carb Curfew Diet by Joanna Hall. The book costs £2.97 from Asda, but this cost is more than compensated for in the lower food bills! Lost 20kg in 6 months improving the power to weight ratio by approx 7%!

Thank you my child.

Bertie has no need to lose weight but the idea of ladies foregoing carbs excites Bertie greatly. Young fillies running around giggling and screaming naked...resisting their god-given urges...ohhhh, Bertie needs to lie down he is so excited. Naughty ladies with their naughty diets...putting things in their mouths that they really shouldn't...

you naughty little poster you

change the front sprocket down one, or add a couple to the back... Its the best thing ever... If you want cheap go for the front sprocket as a Rental one's are cheap and it won't affect the chain lenght too much...

no doubt about the sproket, i went down a tooth in the front and not only does it pull the front wheel up easier but it pulls out of curves a lot stronger as well.
