HANDLEBAR CONVERSION ON A FAIRED SV..!..

Oki-Doki, here we go then.....Bit of a strange request thes....

I going to be in the market for a SV by the end of the week i hope.. :? (see the wanted section.)

My search is restricted to a Naked SV due to a duff wrist. (cant ride anything with low bars.) I tryed my mates faired SV and it hurt like buggery after 10 mins....

So my question is: HAS ANYONE SEEN/HAD/DONE/THOUGH OF DOING A BAR CONVERSION ON THEIR FAIRED SV..???????

If its doable then it'll enable me to find one that much quicker, coz i wont have to shop arround for a naked one... :D

Any info would be cool..... 8)

Cheers.
Alex.

SORRY SHOULD HAVE SAID B4, ID'E WANT TO RETAIN THE FAIRING.....

It's your lucky day :D

In amongst all the bits I have for sale there is a top yoke from a faired bike modified with a set of billet handlebar mounts and some unfaired bars from a Bandit.

Everything should go straight on except your brake hoses will be too short. A pair of braided hoses or some hoses from an unfaired SV650 should work. I've got some longer standard hoses from a 1200 Bandit that should fit also.

Would be interested in a swap for your standard top yoke (if you get a faired bike) plus cash for the other bits. Send me a PM to discuss.

P.S. You may also need a longer clutch and throttle cables.

If you make an enquiry, tell Pete, Cloggsy sent you :!:

You'll need to swap the upper yoke (triple clamp here in the USA), cables and brake hose.

On my 2000 I played around with risers, they're very easy to swap and are cheap on Ebay. Here's my 2000 with 4 inch risers from an old Triumph and Suburban Machinery type2 bars...

I dunno 4" seems a bit high, does it make the front end a bit vague?
I do like those bars you've got, remind me of a set of tomaseli bars I had way back on my GS750.

I'd go for 2" angled risers myself.
Or originals from a nekkid. Flat drag bars with a little bit of a kink in them.

Hello,
I converted my S model with a LSL conversion. There was a picture on this years rideout info. A lot more comfy and more controllable, plus you still get the wind protection from the fairing, just not as good to look at! You need to reroute cables, a longer front brake hose and cut down the screen. Left hand just touches mirror on full lock. You need to adjust bars, levers etc to get clearances to stop fouling on full lock. It may help if you had a selection of handlebars to try. Hope this is of some help, not sure how successful a moded unfaired yoke would be, as the handlebars have to be behind the top yoke nut to acheive clearances.

Very neat it is too. The LSL top yoke isn't cheap tho.

How do you find the handling?
Any improvements or complaints?
