Replacing indicators and bar ends
Well Im new to this site and biking and had a slight accident yesturday. Needless to say I need to repair my SV, but know very little about bikes. I don't want to be ripped off by a garage for what is probably a really easy job.
Does anyone know where the best place is to get spare parts for SVs and also how to change the front indicator light and bar ends? I don't have the first clue. |
you might as well get some aftermarket ones - they look better than the standard ones for a bit cheaper.
try places like busters-accesories.co.uk (think thats the right link) motrax. - but just search google. fitting them is easy. dont know how to on an sv but its a pretty minor job (mabe a 10 min jobbie) go to search at the top of the page and there have been loads of how-to threads. welcome to the site BTW - im heading to plymouth for a few days in feb :) |

What sort of SV is it? Barends will be dead easy to replace, unless you've snapped the screw, when it could be a little fiddly.
Indicators will be different depending on the model but there's no more to any of them than screws and plugs, dead easy. Do you have crash bungs fitted? Now is the perfect time to get it sorted if you don't (well, before you crashed was  ) |
Both are easy to replace. If you get aftermarket turn signals you'll need to cut the plug off the end of the stock ones and solder it onto the new ones... very easy if you have a soldering iron. You could just tape them but that will surely lead to problems later...
