Satnav GPS
Not sure If i'll get shot down for this, but has anyone managed to fit a Satnav to their SV650s ?
I was thinking of wiring my Navman 3450 up to the bike, takes very little power, just need somewhere to mount it !! |

Im looking at maybe a tomtom go, which should fit just behind the windscreen, will let you know how it goes.
Just need to run a 12v lead up from the battery. Stupid question i know, but is there an accessory 12v feed like on a car? Cheers |
I was thinking of doing a mix of these ideas.
Fit a waterproof 12V plug behind the faring. Run a cable from a see through pocket on a tank bag and put PDA and GPS module in there. Stu No idea how well this would work though... |
sounds good. Will let you know how i get on.
I have an ipaq nav system running tomtom in the car, maybe if I get one of these http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/21...largeview.html I may be able to bolt it to something ??? |
I've got Kane Navigation on a Palm Tungsten 2 and used it on a weekend trip to Brighton last month and the Christmas Day run up to Lincolnshire.
I put a ciggy lighter socket, connected to the battery, under the rear seat and ran the electric string under the edge of the front seat and up into the map pocket of the tank bag into the PDA, with the GPS receiver tucked in there as well. I mainly relied on the voice directions, with ordinary 'in ear' phones, but on longer multi map trips the only indication of which roundabout exit to use is on the screen and the SV tank shape means that it's angled forward and difficult to see. I've got the bits to fit a socket and PDA holder into the fairing and it shouldn't be difficult to fit the aerial in there as well and then there's just the waterproofing to deal with. |
Where abouts on the fairing are you thinking of mounting?
I had a quick look on mine, but can't see anywhere where either instruments, or handle bars are not going to be restricted. Have I just not looked hard enough :) Stu |
