sv650 conversion to a tl1000
dose anyone have any info or knoe if you can covert the sv650 to a 1000 motor..... my motor has recently failed and i have to buy a new one so i would like to know if this can be done
|
Anything is possoble (has been done before) but two much work. The guy that did it a few years says he would not attempt to do it again.
Buy a second hand engine or if you want a bigger engined bike sell the 650 either in bits the as or complete and buy anotherbike (SV100 maybe) . Cheers Ben |
You'd probably make a few quid selling all the spares (if you can be bothered breaking your bike yourself, photographing it all & posting them all as spares on eBay...)

well the bike is already stripped into a million parts but i still own money on the loan so i dont want to part it out yet i have to put it back together and i can put a stock motor in it but i fiugred that if i had to spend the money on a new motor might as well get the biggest one in there i can.. i found a web site that has a motor mount conversion to go from a 650 to a tl1000 motor but it dosent say what kinda mods are involved
|
A website y'say? CAn you give me the link so we can have a look.
There was a stunt bike featured in SF mag that had a TL1000 shoehorned into a sv650 frame. Basically it'll involve removing everything between the side rails and creating a new brace/mount for the new engine. Serious graft and not something I'd do myself. |
Why not just get a crashed SV650 off Ebay and use the engine from that? There was only available on there the other day.
|
Cos he wants a 120bhp motor at a guess :) Well, it's a job for the skilled and the brave but it'd be a laugh.

this is the site that has those mount conversion...... i can anyhting i need mount this motor i have a welder and all that good stuff but one of my main conserns is if the motor will fit in the smaller frame without cutting on the frame |
So are you going to builda whole new frame from scratch?
|
