After market exhaust advice wanted
 

I want an aftermarket exhaust but dunno what to go for and what is good etc, I had a look at Akrapovic's website and was impressed but I need a bit of advice from some seasoned pro's! Any advice anyone could give me as to where to go (for exhaust!), would be greatly appreciated.

I've great Rene Titanium exhausts, noted as the highest quality exhausts available, for sale. You will need a collector mod done for £60 extra from rene hq, but you can fit one until you get that done.

Best aftermarket sound - loud and throaty without the thump.

Unless you go for a full system like an Akrapovic, I don't think it's worth spending alot of money.

You can get decent stainless steel cans cheaply from ART/Scorpion etc

Says who? They're alright, but the really notable thing about Renegade is the customer service and SV know-how you get from them. As for the build quality, I'd be surprised to see them beat Akrapovic, which are beautifully constructed!

Carbon Can Co seem to be fairly cheap and well made as well

Carbon can Co are the best of the "proper" road legs, ie chambered cans not race cans with baffles in... That's why I got one, but to be honest that doesn't make much sense now, since there's so many race cans with road-legal baffles out there now, most of which sound better... Very well made can though, and good service from the company as well.

I'd almost agree about the Rene twins being the best sounding, if I hadn't heard my twins :) But they do sound damn good. That's all a matter of opinion of course, everyone looks for different sounds. Try and hear a few...

It purely depends on what you're after- if you just want a better sound and, better look, then a slip-on will be fine. If you want more power, then you'll want to look at full systems, but they're far more expensive.

Someone's selling an M4 full system for silly money in the for sale section, might well be worth a look... Not the best looking or sounding, but very good performance wise it seems.

I'd say buy used if you can... I got my race system for £250, in great condition, and another twin full system for £250 (though it was in need of work) which makes spending the same on an end-can seem pretty pointless to me.

Go for a Quill T3, get`s my vote for a road legal can every time. They`ll give site users a discount too.

And once on the move it`s loud enough to be tasteful.

I had a look at carbon can co and they seem quite good like the titanium rainbow effect jobbie but cant help but think that'll look too ott? I must say I was very impressed by the sound bit from renegade (offers section of this site), but they mentioned something about re-packing the wool every 5000 miles/Km? Is this something I will have to do with every aftermarket can? Also what does the collector do? Excuse my ignorance on this but I know all about car exhausts and where to buy but not bikes but I know that scorpion aren't good on cars as baffles fall out and welds break! Dunno what theyr'e like with bikes. Thanks for your assistance peeps! :?

The Renegade cans do sound awesome, the build quality is excellent and the service is fantastic.

They are based near to Brands Hatch, which can be quite a nice ride (I used to go across the A272 and then head up to Boxhill for a burger and coffee, then pick up the motorway). If you can get up there, they will be more than happy to fit the cans for you - if you can afford it, then I would definately recommend going for the twin can option.

The collector is effetively the pipes that lead to the end can.

With regard to the repacking, I am not sure whether every can requires repacking or not. After about 7000 miles, my carbon rene cans were getting very loud, so I went up there to get them repacked - only cost about £15, or you can easily do them yourself. Whilst I was up there I also had an airbox kit fitted and had the bike re-dynoed - I think it was about 72bhp at the wheel, which wasn't bad for a bike that was about 3 years old by then.

The twins do sound like a tempting option but depends on how much they are compared to others and if I could get my bike down the side of the house to the back garden as its a bit of a tight fit! I think Cresents do Gforce cans (where I bought it) but one site described them as loud! Maybe I should pay them a visit later if I can persuade my girlfriend to trudge round a motorbike shop this aftternoon! You in Southampton?
