Stupid, Dangerous, Advertising Vans

I was driving through Manchester this evening and at some traffic lights pulled up behind a large high back van with rear projection TV's embedded into it. The screens were showing various police-sponsored initiatives such as how to protect yourself when out at night, preventing muggings, etc.

I can't _believe_ that the police would even ALLOW something so dangerous and so distracting to drivers out on the roads, never mind put their names to it. The screens are blindingly bright and have flashing images on them - it's like someone's main-beam shining into your face. Just the ticket when it's raining, dark, and foggy...

I personally think it's part of some big plan of Richard Brunstrom - mesmerize drivers with the flashing images - then hypnotically lead them past a lovely digital GATSO at 30.1mph, and then send you a patronising letter along with the fine/points about how dangerous speeding is. :)

A letter to the Chief Constable and to the MEN will suffice, methinks

saw a similar thing on a bus in london. Very bright and distracting at night, and this was simply a screen inside the bus. I can imagine how bad that van must be.

I believe the biggest threat is yet to come.

Just have a look how many vehicles are fitted with Sat Nav, everyone is now looking down at these screens while talking on the phone and eating apples.

Most of the numpty drivers cannot cope with 3 pedals and a gear knob while turning the steering wheel.

Be afraid! be very afraid

Perhpas it's just Manchester's way of dealing with Chavs - Pied Piper stylee.

I can just imagine them now... moronically captivated by the colours, driving their neon lit Novas and 205s in a long line behind the thing as it leads them out of town and into a darkened field in the middle of nowhere to be shot and buried.

Or possibly over a cliff.

Or into the sea.

Take your pick really!
