Is the 7th annual Southend Shakedown. Apparently.

Anyone else fancy going? I will be there with the usual weather permitting clauses in effect....

whats that then ?

According to the Southend Council site it is "Annual charitable ride from Ace Café, London to Southend Seafront. Enjoy the spectacle of several thousand motorbikes of every type imaginable on display. From Nortons, Harley-Davidsons and Triumphs to Vespas and Lambrettas".

Girl I work with happened across by chance last year, said it was fantastic and she's no biker...

I won't be bothering to ride from the Ace but will be there.

Im up for it weather permitting - I went last year although Im sure it was later in the year - joined it on the A127 as well. Never seen so many bikes. 8) It took 30 minutes to get from one end of the sea front to the other :o

I'm up for it though if were doing it we might as well do it properly and go from the Ace cafe

Mmmmm, a ride out with Lambrettas...?

Sounds interesting.......

It's always on the Easter bank holiday apparently and Easter is earlier this year.

Yes, I got caught up with this last year (I live on the 127 :( )

First you hear the rumble, then bikes outnumber cars by at least 15:1  and it stays like that for hours.

Funniest thing last year, was clocking the face of this poor girl in her mini while she was surrounded by the mob of bikes ... priceless.

MAG done an annual ride years (and years and years) ago where there were so many bikers not wearing helmets, the police had to turn a blind eye. Of course, if any bikers broke from the crowd ....
