Kids walking dogs
 

I **** myself last night!

On my way home from work last night, riding along my street I saw a young lad with a large dog walking past my drive/garage on the right. I spotted him nice and early and moved over to the left hand side of the road to give him some room and slowed right down (as I was about to turn right onto my drive 5 metres up the road. The dog started going mental as the bike was about to go past it and then the kid just let go of the dog lead :shock: The dog shot infront of the bike, I panicked as the dog was right under the front wheel and gave it a big fistfull of front brake and the front locked on the icey road, luckily because I was going so slow I just put my feet down to stop the bike going over. At this point I'm trying to gather my thoughts as I was shaking like a girl :wink: and the dog was still going nuts trying to have me for tea!

As soon as I got the bike in the garage I went to the lads house to have a word with his parents about it, and the fact that he just let the dog go infront of a moving vehicle, and would she have been willing to pay for any damage if I had have dropped the bike blah blah blah blah. Should such a small boy be walking such a large dog that he cant control.

The thing is, I saw the hazard, and moved away from it, but I still crapped my pants when the lad let go of the dog.

At least Sunday is all sorted now

Sunday Morning - Clean the bike and fit new s/s bolt kit
Sunday Lunch - Take the little 'un to play football
Sunday Afternoon - Go to a deserted car park to practice emergency stops!

Live and learn.

So what did his parents say?

She was a patronising (sp) cow! :evil: 'yeah yeah, my husband used to ride bikes so I know why your upset' :toss:

She was not bothered in the least!

People walking dogs are a hazard :evil: Last experience was when skating. Silly woman had let her dog off the lead and it was so excited at a bunch of skaters, the dog decided a much closer look at me was required. Unfortunately, I was moving quite swiftly at the time, the dog got tangled up in my skates and down I went. Stupidly, I didn't want to hurt the dog so couldn't put my hands down and landed on my ribs which I bruised. The owner says "are you ok" as I'm lying there unable to answer! Grrrr...dogs.

So many people like her about today. yet if the tables were turned she'd probably expect yuo to be hanged for upsetting her dog with your big loud and above all unneccesary (sp) bike.

Guess you need to blip the trottle every time you pass her house then. Clearly the dog reacts to you zorst ;)

At least dogs are on leads most of the time.

Cats are free to roam the streets at all hours, $hitting all over the place, killing wildlife. They should all be put down :twisted:

Killed one in the cage, nothing I could do it simply shot out of a farm entrance as I was passing.

Owner very sympathetic and said it had got off its chain and did not hold me responsible, but didn't offer to replace the n/s front wing so I sent them the invoice.

Got a nice cheque through the door a few days later with a covering letter, to explain that they had been so upset that it not occurred to them that there was damage to my car as a result.

We are a dog owning family, whenever we walk it on public highways it is always on a lead and we carry bags to pick up anything it may leave behind. Dogs are like children except they improve as they get older. You are responsible for them and any damage they cause.

We have a chavy family in our street with 3 boxers and another little yappy thing. The kids usually walk all 4 dogs together and when they see another dog they go all mental. The kids can barely hold them back.

Also had a close encounter with a rotty last week. Again the kid couldn't hold it as it wanted to take a piece out of our greyhound.

They should all be muzzled. When we first had our greyhound we kept him muzzled as anything small and furry was considered as lunch.
