Cheap muck off

Here's a tip for a cheap bike cleaner.
Been using Fenwicks Motorhome Cleaner as a very cheap but very effective alternative to muck off. It costs about £7 per litre from most camping and caravan accesory shops (also Towsure). Put about an inch in the bottom of an empty muck off spay bottle, top up with water and you have a bottle of cleaner for about a tenth of the cost and suprisingly enough, it's the same colour. Use the Motorhome and not the Caravan cleaner as it has a corrosion inhibitor. I'm a sad caravanning git  so that's I know it also works very well on Caravans and Motorvans.

or use parafin.

costs about a quid for a litre.

Good advice Tee Jay...thans for that.

I'm always suprised by how some products are marked up and marketed even though (if we were allowed to see the ingredients) theyre pretty much the same things with diffrent concentrations of x, y and z in em.

I bet the stuff that all the hand car washes use is the same too but because we bikers have a bit of cash they sell it to us as a wonder bike cleaner and we happily pay to have a product thats "for bikes"

And bikeageboy ... i'm also a parrafin convert now as you know, but wiould you ever use it on paintwork or plastics??
I'm curious.

i did spiderman.

i used it on electrics too - and no harm done.

i wouldnt leave it on there too long tho.

Wow, youre a brave man

Only reason i say that is that it took a while to wash it off my hands as it was quite oily. i wouldnt wanna risk it on the plastics or paint just in case it leaves a slippy residue but i guess if you rinsed it off and it was ok then i can give it a go.

Guess i know what i'll be up to tomorrow then ;)

Need new front brake pads too so might have to do a bit of reading on here about good front pads and get the caliper off the front and give that a good clean with the old para.
