How Much!!! Service cost
 

Hello,
I am recent X reg (2000) SV650s owner, the bike I have has been serviced but I think not since 11K or so, it's now done just over 16K so I want to service it.
Just got quoted £300 - is this normal?....does anyone know what I'd get for that - is it £300 just for the basics and then more £££ if I need new discs etc - just seemed a bit pricey to me.

I recently got a quote similar but this included the value clearances so this may explain it?

They're probably allowing for having to adjust the valve clearances, which in reality, won't need to be done. Perhaps talk to them in some detail about what they will cover in that.

A fair general service will be in the region of £120 - covering oil, filter, various adjustments, greasing etc.

£300 for the 15,000 mile service is not unusual, sometimes can be more.

£120 - £150 for the other services

If the bike has been pretty idle for some time I would consider the full service, oherwise, as the shims won't need doing you could get away with the more minor one.
