Service Interval + 2005 model

I'm new to Suzukis and am seriously considering getting an SV650S (probably tomorrow!).

Can anyone tell me what the service interval is? Is it a 6 months or a year?

Also, I rang a dealer who had a new K3 and K4 model in stock. Is there a new model for 2005 that I should be getting? A lad at work has one he bought last year which he says looks a bit different to the one on the Suzuki site as his had silver wheels and a silver frame but the one on the site was all black.

Thanks a lot.

Just had a look at the K3 service manual and it says the first service should be carried out after'1 month or 600 miles' yet the K4 says '2 months or 600 miles' and the K3 has the second service at '6 months or 4000 miles' yet the K4 says '12 months or 4000 miles', and it's the same thing for all the other services too, Suzuki seem to have doubled the months.

K5?

Thanks very much for that. Does anyone know if there is a K5 model different to the K4?

Ta.

Yes, the K3 and K4 are similar in looks, just some slight differences in ergonomics and a few inconsequentials (badge design, like where tools are and fusebox...worse than on K3 IMO).

The K5 seems to be the same as a K4 in setup but has a black frame and swingarm and wheels (think). There could be some other hidden differences.

The colours change a bit each year. So that could make up your mind. Black looks nice with black frame, but blue looked better with silver for example IMO for what its worth.

Of course Im unsure if there will be a diff on residuals buying a K3 or K4 now rather than a K5. That could be offset by a very nice deal on an older model tho.

It depends I suppose on whether the older ones are pre-reg (although thats never mattered on a car, where they call it 1+1 owners rather than 2 sometimes  ). But the major determinant will be your mileage and condition once all are 2 or 3 years old. Again on resale it can depend a lot on colour. Like if you must have a yellow one, then its K4...for example.
