Scratched Carbon Fibre

Finally managed to get the cover off the bike without crying and fired her up. Thankfully started easily. :D
I sooooooo wanted to go for a ride, thought I'd just have a wee gentle run to the end of the street and back but my shoulder quickly told me to wise up.

Anyway, a closer look (and a bit of a clean) has revealed that my lovely new Carbon Fibre can has some slight scrapes, they seem to be surface only, not down to the fibres. Any ideas on getting rid of them? Has anyone actually done this? I'm worried about making things worse!

Cheers!

Hmmm, so no one ever scratched their Carbon can or no one ever tried to fix it? :-k

I think that it is a lost cause. Once it's marked it's marked. It's not like a metal can where you can polish it out.

If the scratches aren't too deep, you might be able to polish out the scratches with T-Cut & apply a qood quality wax polish/silicon spray to bring out the shine again, otherwise, I believe some carbon cans have a metal under-skin... Might be worth having a look... If so, you could remove the carbon, just leaving the metal sleeving :?:

Otherwise, get in touch with the manufacturer & see what they suggest :?:

I had some monor scratches on my sleeves. I used some very fine wet n dry(1500) and lots of water, got them out a little but not much

The scratches will polish out with some car wax. I have carbon fibre patches on the elbows and knees of my leathers and I constantly get scratches on em. Turtle wax works great on em.

I use CF in model cars and constantly seal the stuff with very thin runny superglue!

What type of model cars?

I used to race in the BRCA 1/10 off road years ago :)
