Ground anchors
 

Does anyone know of any companies in the North London area (or within reasonable distance of) that can advise on, and fit, ground anchors? I want to put one outside the flat in the car park, but the tarmac doesn't look too strong and I'm worried that if I fit one myself, it might pull out.

Make a big hole with a pick axe and fit the anchor with some fresh concrete bought from a building site for cash. Once that's set, then tarmac back over it, with fresh tarmac bought from some road engineers.

Cheap if you have time to do the running around.

I've found these guys on the net. They do nationwide installations. As long as the cost is less than my insurance excess, I think that it's probably worth it. Their anchor also carries up to £300 contribution in 'event of product failure leading to theft'. I've no idea what they mean by 'product failure' though. If a thief breaks the anchor is that 'product failure', as it will have failed to prevent the bike being nicked.

Anyone seen or used one of these? Any ideas if it is any good? (The 6T truck hanging by the anchor suggests it has a certain strength!)

My friend has one of those in his garage - i've given it a few kicks and it seems to be sturdy. I like the fact it's wall mountable, that's a big plus for me... maybe i can stop wheeling the bike into the back garden afterall.

I'm aware it'll be pulled out of walls with ease but as the bike has a rather sensitive, loud alarm on it i just want it to put off people. I live on a quiet estate, something that would delay putting the bike in a van should be enough to do it.

I personally don't like the idea of having any moving parts on a ground anchor!
I have a Motrax Groundhog 3 fitted in my garage and it is a behemoth!! :D :D
It is bolted into the ground with 6 bolts which are stuck in using resin based cement stuff, then ball barings are put in the top of the allen bolts and a steel cap hammered into place over the top of each bolt! This prevents it from being drilled out! :D
I just feel that with something like a ground anchor that it is better to have something which clearly means business! Moving parts always look like it may be possible to get round them somehow. Even if it is not possible, a potential thief may give it a go, find they can't do it, so resort to vandalising your bike! :roll:
