Cleaning Your Helmet (ooer)

Well, since i have been riding all winter.

My warm winter lid has gotten a little smelly.

Unfortunately, it doesnt have removable padding, im sure this issue has been tackled before, but how do i clean the bugger?

Any suggestions much appreciated.

I always like to give my helmet a good going over in the shower.

A wee bit of mild fabric shampoo or something similar, clean an rinse it in the shower and let it dry out naturally.

And yes, I am being serious.

fabreeze?

Let it air, keep your hair clean and don't store stinky gloves in it.

What he said.

You can buy Helmet Sanitiser from bike shops but i'm sure its just Febreeze anyway. Maybe consider getting a silk balaclava too, that way you swet into the silk of the balaclava rather than directly into the lining of the lid.

Silk can absord 30 times its own weight too. And you can then just throw it in the wash.

Yes, I'd always thought they'd shrink but somehow they tend to expand.

For a while, but rest assured they do tend to shrink back to their original shape!
