Help - Oil leak.
 

Whilst cleaning my bike today I noticed that quite a few drops of oil had fallen onto the ground and made a small pool of oil, maybe 50p sizish. Anyway it'd been sitting there maybe 3 hours or so. There's oil all over the sidestand and along the swingarm. I guess that's blown back from whatever leak while riding. Rode it home carefully as bit o oil on tyre and left a message with dealer that I'm bringing it in tommorow!

It looks as if its from the clutch cover is this likely? , what else could it be?? It's a K4 with 2.5K on it.

Breather pipes into the airbox??

I'm not familiar with the K4 breather, only carbs I'm afraid, so may be off course.

Quite common for oil to leak from the clutch cover join and usually fixable with a new O ring,but you can damage the cover if something hits it.The one you really dont want it to be is a failure of the front sprcket output shaft caused by overtight chain?

Am I on the wrong track or isn't the clutch on the right? I'm also under the impression that all of the breathers vent on the right.
If it's going all over the sidestand, have a look at your sump plug.

One thing I wouldn't rule out though is over greasing or getting carried away with WD40. I once used a bit too much WD40 and after a ride I found a very oil like substance all over the down pipes and even a bit on the swingarm, so I washed the bike and and found nothing leaking. I've also done the same with Scottoiler FS365, put too much on when it was fairly cold and a fair bit had collected on top of the radiator but had not evaporated before I went for a ride. When I got off the bike I found my boot and the left side of the bike covered in an anti-freeze looking substance coming from the rad but luckily after spending ages checking it out I find no leak in the rad, it was just the FS365 dropping down from the top of the rad. I hope it's something similar for you.

have you got a scottoiler, or is it excessive lube from the chain - this can build up on or around the sidestand area, and then appears to drip off causing the problem you've noticed

aha yes thank you. I do use WD40 liberally on it and I do have a scottoiler. I'll still pop it to the dealer just incase to avoid the hassle if it is something big.
I'll give it a clean and not use WD40 for a few days and put scottoiler on min see if that clears it up. It did seem odd as the oil level had not moved at all.
