2nd gear trouble

hi there, i'm new here as i've only just got my 04 sv650s. its now got about 1000 miles on it in about 2 weeks. :D however, ive had a problem. its only happened twice but its fairly disconcerting. not sure if its a problem with my riding or the bike. im pretty sure its just me not clicking it into second properly but id rather check here. basically when i accelerate hard-ish, and change from 1st to 2nd, i go past neutral but when i release the clutch it clicks into neutral again. im pretty sure its just me but i wanted to check, as im new to biking (only 17yrs old!). thanks a lot guys. other than that my bike has been a godsend and i love it to bits!

yourl get the trick of it eventually, you need to give the shifter a good pelting up. i used to get it when i first started, ive been riding now for two years and its sorted, oh and i also found it happens when wearing trainers, try to wear proper boots as much as possible.

yep give it a good pop up !

of course it could be a false neutral ur hitting!!

u might need to adjust yr gear change lever - a couple of clicks!!..have u got big feet fer a 17 yr old- are they big sir?ooh sir large ones- suit u sir!

Adjust your chain & possably adjust the gear lever down a bit so that when you click up it properly selects.

I had the same problem but sometimes under hard acceleration it would then go into N.

when i had problems with my gearbox it was due to the oil level. as in it was too high!

check that.

You could always just not use the clutch when you're accelerating hard. I tend to only use it for downshifts or when i'm taking it very easy.
