SV1000S K3
Hitting red-line in top gear?
I am not asking if anyone has but does anyone know if the SV1000 will rev out? I have only had my K3 for two weeks but with the GSX-R's I have had they all hit red-line in top gear. And got there at a quick rate. Cheers :D |
By 'rev out' do you mean hit the rev limiter :?: :?
If so, yes the 1000 does have a limiter, I believe it come it at around 11,500 rpm (subject to an SV1000 owner telling me I talk out of my ( ! )) The SV1000S get from 0 - 60 quicker than the GSXR1000 (in standard form) too  Cool eh :?:  |
And a old curvey version of the SV650, will hit 60 before a GSXR 600

Does that G Nicco pack thing remove the rev limiter if you put it in?

GSXR1000's/Busa's and such like might 'artificially' limit at 186mph as this is where they have been limited in speed to and not a limit of the engine. Of course this is coming from my very limited knowledge of gearing. Benji |
The red-line
I have never had a bike that did not hit the red line in top gear. The GSX-R's and the TRX all hit the line and with out a lot of trouble. Its true this was not into a wind and not going up hill. But on the flat and being a nice day they all do it.
I just wanted to know if SV's are known for doing this? Anyway, I will post if this one can next week  |
I'd like to find a bit of road where I could find out if I can hit the limiter in top (that's 16,250 on a K4 Gixer 600!!!)
Anyway, what's the point ? Is 160 MPH not fast enough for you ?? . |
Playaround the answer to your question is yes, well my one does but that is with the aid of a TRE, an air kit and a pair of cans.

.[/quote] Thing is that I dont think I will ever try to get there. But was just wanting to know if the power was there to do this. |
