Castle Combe - Under threat of closure?

I'm not sure how legit this is, I can't find nothing about it on the Castle Combe website, but apparently due to noise complaints it is in jeapody of closure.

A petition has been created here.

Although I'm not sure what good that would do anyway :?: :?

Anyone else with any clue? I was considering a phone call to them, but can't today.

Castle Coombe has been around for years, it's not like it's recently been built. People who move near to something noisey, then complain are utter dolts. You don't move next to a motorway then complain about the traffic noise, do you? Surely, your only realistic grounds for complaint should be if:

a) It is newly built near you. Eg you moved there, no plans for a racetrack, suddenly one is built on your doorstep.
b) The noise level has significantly increased
c) The frequency it is used has greatly increased and/or the times at which it is being used have become more anti-social (suddenly they're drag racing at midnight every week night).
d) a combination of b and c

It's like moving to the Isle of Man then complaining about the noise/roads on mad Sunday. It was there before you, you have to adjust to it, not the other way round!

Logic and common sense have nothing to do with it. The local council seem to want to stitch them up at every opportunity.

The local residence are now liasing with those living close to other UK circuits to present a united front and share information about how best to shutdown noisy circuits!

As was mentioned in another thread (in the context of dirt-track closure), closing the circuits will actually encourage people to behave in a far more anti-social manner. Without trackdays, people will be more inclined to max-out their new machine on the public roads, etc.
