4K service
Hi All,
Any ideas you lot, on what shoul dbe done on a 4k service? A list would be great, so that I can check it off  Cheers, Mass |
Have a look at this: http://www.sv650.org/SV_service_manu...aintenance.zip
With the milage you do however, it's worth learning how to do it yourself. |
Top of the list has to be:
DON'T TAKE IT TO KEN ROBERTS!!!! |
Hiya all,
Bugga, I've just noticed that I've had the Bluw Cow on the trip meter rather than the ODO. Then I noticed that she's actually done 3900 miles give or take a few miles. Now I know that taking it to that nob head Ken Roberts is not on the list, however, I have managed to get it booked in for the 4K service in Cardiff dealer, buuuut not until 25th of this month  by this time the Blue Cow will have approx 6K on her. Will it last, or do I give her an oil change before then? Should I wait, and will she be OK until then?? Cheers all, Mass |
Dealer said to me a max of 5k, so 6k is pushing things. However if you're doing a lot of long distance easy going stuff the oil could well be cleaner at 6k than mine at 4k with all my stop start city stuff and using the bike 3-4 times a day....

At that rate mate, you will be closer to your 7.5K interval. I did my own 4K service.. wasnt in the mood to pay £150+ odd quid for someone to sit there and watch the oil drain out.
Changed the oil, did the TPS mod at the time, so the engine had a good looking over by myself, no bits in the oil, so left the filter there, and generaly have a good look over the bike, tighten stuff up etc. took out air filter, gave the box a wiping down, filter part looked clean. Top up with oil, start up, check levels, top up as required. Check water levels.. jobs a good'n Saved that money, and got myself a new back wheel some weeks later. Im not interested in getting the suzuki stamp if I dont 100% have to, Im getting the 7.5K service done local, as that involves changing the plugs.. and try as I might, I cannot get the cap off the No1 cylinder on my bike! Would do it myself, but would like someone trained to do the job have a look once in a while :) Will be changing my own pads etc in future. Think its good for me to learn all this stuff anyway.. saves me a small fortune, and I like doing it anyway |
