I really like the SV; the whole thing works, the bike the insurance the forgiving nature of it. However I feel more and more drawn toward a 4pot and I just can't fight it

My SV is basically my car. My SV is also my first real motorcycle, and so far I am really taken by it. I really like the "character" of the SV. So, I guess I would call myself and enthusiast.

I orginally got my SV as a stepping stone. Now, I realize it will probably always be with me. The plan is to keep modding it until it is one of those "weekend only" deals, then I'll probabaly get something else for riding most of the time. Mind you, if my lottery numbers ever come in..... :-k

I'll keep it for ages, but mine's suffering from corroding (forks), and now the paint is coming off the tank. Hammerite for the former and Oxford Paintsaver the latter is my plan.

Surely not!

Your bike looked all shiny and new when I was looking at it.
The paint / tank thing...yep I can see that coming, considering the bad paint job I had on the first tank
But it took Nagai (who works at Bentley cars) to spot the paint blistering.

For life?

I'd say I'm probably an enthusiast (I definately spend enough money on it), but keeping being tempted by bigger and better bikes.

Then I remember though that I wouldn't be able to make the most of something like a ZX7-R or GSXR. Much rather stick with the 'little bike' then at least when I occasionally overtake someone on a supersport it's much more gratifying...

I like my SV very much and it has been great to get back into biking. However, the new Sprint ST wants me to buy it and show it europe, I don't know how long I can ignore the voices!

While I do see my SV as a good path of experience to a larger and more powerful machine (that was the option I chose)... I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

I've shoved nearly 20,000 miles on it, thrown it down the road, cut wires, taken it to bits, added things, changed stuff - no one will ever buy it!

All said and done, it doesn't have a special practical place in my life - good fun bike, likes to be thrown around, gets me to work, and helps me play. :D
