tyre pressures
 

hi folks, i have a 2001 sk1 650s. I have just bought the bike and when checking the pressures i found the front was 26.5 and the rear was 33 psi. i've checked the manual and they reccomend 33front and 36 rear. i'm running bridgestones...

shall i run at the book levels... what you think...

the book levels are slightly difrent from the tyre manufacturers recomendations, but i just keep 'em at 36 front 38 rear. thats just me tho.

I hate having my pressure off. it makes the bike so unsteady. would hate to try running 26.5 on the front.

If the tires are the same brand as what came with the bike new. I'd run what the Owners Manual said. If the tires are another brand or type. I'd run pressures recommended by the tire manufacturer.

I ran 22 on the front for a ride by mistake, god she was a dog. Get it pumped to at least 33!

I think I run 36 front & 42 rear in my Z6's...

I always run 33/36. I've tried to mess with the pressures but always come back to the standard pressures.

Tyre pressures are a personal thing, but I would say that anything less than 30psi on the front is going to make the front all wishy washy (technical term that :wink: ) and the tyre will have too much movement.

Over pressure will make the tyre too solid and will slide easy when banking over.

I'd say put standard 33/36 for a start and then work from there.

i just checked mine after reading this post.....

i had the bike (used) from a dealer two weeks ago and have done a couple of hundred miles i guess.

front 29
rear 17!!!!!

worse thing is the bike still felt great after my 15 yr old gpz500. :oops:
think i ought to up the rear abit?? :roll:

One would suspect a slow puncture I think :roll:

yes - i was suspicious. pumped up to 36 the other night then went for a cautious blast last night. it has remained at 36 pressure for 3 days now and no change after the ride.

can only assume that the dealer didn't check - :evil:
