Coughing SV

Went out for a quick blast last night and I noticed my SV seems to have developed a slight cough.

It happens on the overrun from low revs but mainly when blipping the throttle whilst stationary.

I presume it's just a slight blowback through the carb.
the bike still seems to be running realy well and there is no noticable drop in performance.

It only does it occasionally and it only started last night.

Bike is a 2002 with 5500 miles on it.

Is this a common thing ?
Should I be worried ?

Common - all the time on mine (though improving after several weeks of a decent commute)

I suspect the choke is not closing right off and then letting too much fuel past. Check your consumption, and plugs. Otherwise you may have the carbs out of balance (though that should not happen on such a low mileage bike.)

Rode to work this morning, not a murmur.

Amazing what a bit of Benylin smeared on the air filter will do
