why? is heavy metal called heavy metal

if it was aluminium it would be lightweight metal....or i think it would be lightweight alloy cause i think aluminium isnt metal...is it?...if it were metal it would rust anyway so in anycase it would be lightweight rusty metal or to be exact it could be lightweight ferrous oxide enhanced mineral ore.......so the conclusion is :-

HEAVY METAL aka LIGHTWEIGHT FERROUS OXIDE ENHANCED MINERAL ORE MUSIC

what d'ya all think?

I think the term comes from an NME journalist in the 60's when he was reviewing an album by The Byrds. He likened their guitar sound to a 'heavy metallic noise', or some such ****.
