Time on the SVs

Hi, just got home from a 150 mile round trip, stopped in the middle, the point of going to see someone, can anyone give some tips or hints, on how to stop your bum going numb, and your shoulders aching, or is it just me age. I aready know the one about stopping more often.
cheers :?

For the shoulders... just relax! Use your body to stear the bike, rather than tensed shoulders and arms!

For your bum.... sorry, that's just the SV for you! perhaps a pair of padded cycling shorts would help, or a gel seat.

Stop doing local runs and go out for a proper ride :D that will toughen your posterior muscles up.

Either that or buy a bagster seat

try replacing the seat - i can personally vouch for the bagster seatster. Did over 500 miles during the rideout weekend without any numb bum. My pillion reports much the same.

I've got a standard seat thats just been cut down by about a inch, now I'll happily do miles and miles... 130 every day. It also means I'm more flat feeted which makes me more confident movin the bike about.

Whilst you are riding try flapping your elbows like little wings. Apart from looking stooooopid you will find you have to relax to do it!

Try a good ruby the night before a big ride

Works for me it is like sitting on an air bag

Ophic,

Can you give me more details of Bagster seat. Cost? where from? etc.

Any pics would be cool.

And if anyone else knows where I can get a gel seat I'd be grateful.

Can't handle more than about an hour before numb ****. Strange with all the natural padding it has.

Cheers.

the other option is a suzuki gel seat, just bought a brand new one one off ebay in the US for around 70 quid inluding shipping.

oneida.com (parts supplier in NY) also do them, you can't get them for the K3 in UK for some reason

My wife found for quite a few weeks after riding the new K5 her shoulders were really sore and got tense and on ocassions had to stop riding as it hurt so much.
But now as the weather is much nicer she has been riding more she has got used to riding and she is much more relaxed and in control.
:)
