Thrash the living daylights out of it!!!!!!!!!!

Its one of those questions taht has no real answer. I run my sv in to the book. Others have riden hard, both have seemed to have no ill effects.

The idea of running in, is to get the engine and all other components to 'bed in' So not keeping it at constant throttle, lots of gear changing, vary speed, and engine speed etc, keeping in mind of the 5k limit etc. A good couple of days general riding around, and you can put 600 mile son easy. Took me 10 days to do mine.

Err, book the 1st service now!

Otherwise, it's all in the manual. If you can't get a service in time, make sure you do the oil, as it will be degusting by the time you get 600miles on it. In fact, think about getting the oil and filter now, so you can do it yourself in any case. It's a doddle really.

Some people have had problems with the gear lever falling off after 1000 miles or so so check it after your first service.

A 1st service is a lottle more than changing the oil, but yes, book the 1st serivce for 10 days time, or as youa re off, next saturday!

It is more than just an oil/filter change, but if you find you're definitely gonna go over the 600 mile mark, then changing those and doing a basic check yourself would probably be a good idea.

Which is exactly what I did, as I completely underestimated how quickly I was going to rack up the miles. Especially as I wasn't going to ride it to yorkshire for the sake of the free labour under the warranty.

My SV went in at 780 miles for its 1st service! As long as its done in the 1st 800 is ok for the warranty, again, down to the dealer.
