leather repairs

i got an RST leather jacket and the zip has just bust. (doesnt work at all)

is it worth getting a new zip put in ? or just buy a new set of leathers?

got a quote from a local dry cleaners, thet want 40 quid for it.

is this normal or should i go else where ?

£40 seems a little expensive, but a new set of leathers could set you back an awful lot more.

How long have you had the jacket? I got my the zip on my Joe Rocket jacket replaced for free under warranty 9 months after getting it (within 1 year warranty).

ive had it a year next week.

ill go down the place where i got it monday and see what they can do for me.

have you tried the internet? there are several places on there which specialise in bike leather repairs/alterations.

I used one recently to get slider patches sewn on and it cost c. £30 so I'm sure you could get a zip sorted for less than that. Can't remember who it was off the top of my head, but they were based on NW England and did a good job & fast too

Try STUARTS LEATHERS of Preston - telephone 01772 251362 who are open 7 days a week. I got some stitching done to my leather jacket at my local market for 30 notes, did a good job too!!!
