Anyone fitted one? And does it make a huge difference? I've been told that if I want to run my new CCC s/s oval without the baffle, it would run lean :? (which is obviously bad for the engine :( ) How simple are they to fit and where is the best place(cheapest) to get them from?

i dont know but i dont think running lean is bad for the engine,if you fix the mapping it may not make that trade mark sv popping sound :twisted:

Running lean can give you that extra bit of power but I doubt it will ever be anything but bad for the engine as you end up with more wear and tear.

Running lean or rich is ultimately a bad thing. Running lean is worse than rich, though.

You don't need a PC to get the fueling sorted, just get the ECU remapped. On a bike like the SV the PC is a luxury rather than a necessity.

As carsick said, its much worse to run lean than rich. Sv's run a bit rich as standard. I really don't think you'd have much of a problem, mines a k4 with Scorpion Race can and its still runs a bit rich at the top end.

Running lean means higher temperatures in the combustion chambers.This can result in burning a hole in the piston crown and thus destroying the engine.Hence best to get it checked.

just take the friggin baffles out.

bikes run rich from standard, so a bit more air in,air out wont make a difference i dont think :)

Got one on the gixer and it made a hell of a difference, had it setup when I put an end can on. Basically, it made power delivery silky smooth with no dips or troughs and it pulls cleanly from about 2000rpm all the way to the red line.

You can achieve the same results with a an EMS box - at least you can for the gixer, so presumably you can for an SV. These are cheaper.

Very simple to fit - just plug it in - but get someone who knows what they're doing to set it up - that's the hard part. You can buy them directly from here:

It works out quite a lot cheaper than buying them over here. Normally though, you'd take the bike to a dyno place in the UK and pay them for it and the setup (on the dyno) to get best results.

YES - you do need to get your ecu re-mapped (a power commander is just a user friendly method of re-mapping), on the curvy you would have needed to alter your carbs (dynojet kit).

Any change in the exhaust system nearly always gives worse performance on any bike unless the ecu is re-mapped to suit, and removing the baffle goes to the extreme with the risk of damaging your engine.

Not strictly true, though I agree that it is a good idea.
