best road side assistance

who is everyone with? had a bad experience with one particular company? or had a very quick and professional service and want to tell others about it?

only reason im asking is cos im thinking about it as i had my bike break down on me today, managed to bodge it up and get it home (cheers ross) with another battery

that and the fact that theres another thread lower down the page where the guy got dicked about something silly by Alky's Anonomous (the AA)

I am also trying to find the best breakdown cover provider. You can
find some useful info here http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=24751.

AA (bike) have consistantly been bad- massive delays getting out, despite in one case being 'at risk' due to where I had broken down, poor quality (rude, inept and ill-equipped non-AA staff, as well as mechanically inept, but polite AA) repairmen sent, bloody awful communications. Only reason I use them is that I got a years free policy with my bike.

Greenflag (cage), cheap as chips, fast as fook response times, good repairs, good communitcations, generally nice, knowlegeable staff. I think they do bike cover too so I will switch to them at renewal time.

RAC were absolutely fantastic with me when I had a battery problem, and had to get a new one. He was with me all afternoon, took me to the dealer and waited for the battery to be ready etc.

Highly recommended.

Good thing with RAC is that they cover you, whatever vehicle you are in - whether that be bike or car.

My AA cover is up for renewal so I'll be looking around for the 'best cover' too.

I've had the RAC out a couple of times and they were great - friendly, helpful and both guys knew their bikes reasonably well.

They will try to flog you the 'bit more than basic' cover though as this lets you choose where you get recovered to if it can't be dealt with at the roadside. On the basic one you just get taken to the nearest garage, which may or may not be any good with bikes.
