I really, really hope that continues around the country.
In the area I live, we've very lucky to only have one camera and for once I actually agree with it's placement. It can be seen from a good distance and is at a spot where excessive speed can and has caused some nasty accidents.

Excellent news. I hope other forces latch onto the idea.

If the review makes cameras more visibile and act as a deterent in accident blackspots then this has got to be a good thing. I have doubts that this is what the outcome will be.

I noticed that when the directive to make cameras more visibile was adopted, some of the cameras were being strategically placed in perfectly visible places but in such a way that it actually made them difficult to spot.

For example, I've noticed that some cameras are being placed in their full cladding, but in situations where they don't stand out because of commercial signage or advertising.... a sort of high visibility camoflage! :roll:

The cynic inside me says that they're only taking down the ones that don't make any money anymore... and making a PR exercise out of it.

But that's not necessarily a bad thing!

There's a couple in London that haven't worked for some time. Eastbound A 4 just past Hogarth roundabout, that camera has not turned in well over a year, and I haven't seen it flash either (but I'm not going to be the one to test it :roll: )

Also, the camera at the end of Upper Thames St, just before the Tower has been removed. So that's 2 of the 9 cameras on my commute that I don't have to worry about, can somebody do something with the other 7 please :lol:
