So I was bored this weekend... Went out to the garage...

And just look what happened!

I'm not the sort to blow my own trumpet, but I have to say, my bike completely rocks :)

The details for the techie-minded are, SRAD 750 yokes, wheel and axle with K2 forks and clipons, er, and a bodged on antique GSXR mudguard. The SRAD yokes match the lock stops perfectly and a small amount of grinding (of the frame  ) means the parking lock works. It all fitted up a charm using the TWF top bearing, cable clearance is a little tight due to the lower clipons but it all works, and with a 120/70 tyre the handling is quicker than stock but still stable (the forks are shorter but the tyre's taller)

The difference in handling is unreal... I had the front end reasonably sorted with 15W oil and Ohlins springs but without even spending more than a fe seconds setting these up (centred all the damping, and preload is just how they were when they came) it's light years ahead. More planted, more confortable... The brakes aren't massively better since the SV master cylinder's a bit overwhelmed pushing those 4-pots- more power but less feel I'd say.

Big thanks due to 21Quest, whose fault this all is and who gave a lot of help along the way, but also to Burner and to various SV Rider guys- Zoran first and foremost- who helped out along the way. Now bring on the respray![/i]

Looks like suzuki built it :D
Dare I ask how much all the bits were? I'm very jealous.

Hehe, I saw this coming after monitoring the svrider.com forums. Specifically on fork swaps.

Ya sly bugger. Looks good, me wan!

Suppose I'm going to have to have a rethink on upstaging the scene now  .

Have to wait and see mind, as if I'm off to Europe on my year out, i'll probably be selling up :( .

If I'm staying in the UK though, and working with a decent wage, I would like to treat the bike to some trickness...

Nah, that's a TCP Aerodynamics undertray- not the flashest, but still nice looking and IMO the most practical undertray since it keeps the proper battery box and luggage tray, as well as stock-ish lights and indicators, and doesn't require cutting.

GSXR1000 K5 front end :) Radials, waveys, gold tubes... To be honest it's not the flashest job, Uthaug's is far nicer with the newer bits. But to me all that's really just excessive, the 4-pots on mine will stop an SV like an anchor, why would I want radials :) Not worth the extra £400 or whatever. Plus 21Quest's got 2 of 'em so I'm lagging behind...

Ah, there's the big question. Roughly £650 and a fair bit of work. Wheel and discs were cheap at £120, forks, brakes, K2 yokes and clipons were £250, but I sold the yokes for £50. SRAD yokes were £40 from a VD guy. TWF's bearing is $60 delivered to the UK, and I had to pick up various new bits- stem nuts and washer, oil seals, wheel bearings, bottom bearing... Plus a new Roadtec 120/70

The wheels and sprocket carrier were £100 to get coated in the metallic, and I got the mudguard- which I think is off a GSXR1100 and fits like a really badly made glove- free from him. BBS in Edinburgh, top class.

It could be done cheaper- I could have reused the bottom bearing, reused the front tyre (but I think this would have been a bad move handling-wise), and found a dark grey front wheel to match the dark grey rear (or a silver rear to match my GSXR silver fronts) but I wanted to do it right first time.

Thing is... I could now sell the SV front end, if I wanted. I reckon with the upgrades I've done to it I could get £350-£450 quite easily, which makes the cost of the front end seem reasonable. Honest :) If my sums are right, £200 for a massively better front end with better brakes is an absolute bargain. Compare with the cost of brake pads, braided lines, springs and emulators...

I'm not quite done- I need a real Y-K2 mudguard (probably a Poly 26) and I want a better master cylinder for it... Then maybe taller, wider clipons for comfort and clearance. Plus the bolts are an absolute hodgepodge so I need to sort that out, and I'd like to coat the calipers (curse, should have done that at the same time as the wheels). Always another job to do....
