lowering........again (sorry)
 

Hi all

I (will) need to get an SV650s lowered, does any one know where I will be able to get it done?

I live in Yorkshire but am prepared to travel (I will have it!)

I will obviously ask the dealer I buy from but I recently went to Bradford Motorcycles and the salesman was really stuck up about lowering it - suggested I try cruisers :x :x - does he want my money or not?

I found drshull- which solely does lowering bikes quoted me £250 an CMC in Chesterfield is having a ladie day on Saturday and they have some lowered bikes, so i'll be checking them out

Does any one know of anywhere else (or want to do it for me?- i'll pay!)

There must be some kind soul at your end of the world who'd help you out, it doesn't require much to fit alternative "dog bones" to the rear and drop the forks a bit, also consider the lowered seat from Suzuki, makes a bit of difference, or perhaps a seat lowered by an upholsterer, or specialist.

There are a number of people who have little-ised SVs, two of which are Kate and Samnooshka, perhaps they could tell you precisely what was done and at what cost.

My dealer did mine before i picked it up and i think it was about £30 :D

Now, if you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? You might be able to get away with longer links and a lowered seat, both of which you can get from any suzuki dealer. I can't remember how much the lowered seat costs, but its listed on the suzuki site and I think the longer links are about £70ish (I have a terrible memory so can someone please correct me).

Even I can put on the lowered seat its that easy, the longer links shouldn't take long to be fitted so that shouldn't be too costly.

The salesman, IMO, sounds like an idiot. There is nothing wrong with lowering an SV.

I would suggest trying this out before playing with the suspension etc as that impacts slightly on the handling on the bike.

I can also suggest looking at the built up boots such as Daytone Lady Star GTX, they are very comfortable and make it a lot easier to reach the floor!

This week's MCN has a feature on lower bikes, the SV650 is one of the bikes they cover and they detail a place that will do it for you. Worth checking out. I'll second what Kate says and avoid cranking the suspension all the way down until you've tried the lower seat/dog bones, as obviously that'll effect the handling more.
