Greatest ever motorbike!?
Did anyone see the program on C5 last night?
... and the number 1 greatest ever mortorbike is... a honda Cub   For me it would have been the Ducati 916 8) (or my SV 8-[ ) That Y2K bike looked interesting. Fastest production bike, costing $184,000. It uses a jet turbine to reach 250mph. Funny noise for bike though. It sounded more like a aeroplane, but then it was a helecopter engine. |
I saw it. Was the first tv I have watched in months. I'm not convinced it was worth it, though.
I have to admit, seeing that c90 dropped off a building was funny. |

But is it a motorcycle? It has gears (no clutch), an engine and two wheels but I'm not sure about it  What criteria would you use to define "greatest"? Sure the 916 was an iconic and beautiful machine but it's not one for the masses and not many on here will have ridden one. My vote would be for a bike that many on here have ridden (not including the SV) and one that was the an introduction to biking for many............. ............ the Kawasaki ER5. |

You should watch Torque then  Minging film but had a scene with the Y2K in it |
I liked it when Jay Leno said he stopped at the lights and some guy was creaping up behind him in a car, he looked in the mirrors and saw his front grill melt with the heat coming from the gas turbine engine.

But using your first criteria, there used to be affordable bikes and blindingly quick bikes.....and then the Kawa Z1 came along. Most of what we ride today owes something to that. Oh, and the Spagforth Lightning. |
