Exhaust tuning/modifying ??'s

I have a 2002 SV, I was wondering if I "spliced" the pipe that leads directly into the can, and added another exhaust (stock) would that give me any engine problems..ie. bend valves or anything of that sort? I'll post pictures when finished, if it isn't a bad idea that is. Thanks for your help.

err, would the bike now be even heavier on one side?

Are you going for the RGV250/RS250/Mille esq look?

It would be a bit daft to use "stock" cans?

Shotgun exhausts are cool, but it all seems a bit of a waste of time with the ugly stock cans.
You shouldn't have any problems with the pressure being too much, but it won't give you much of a performance boost if any at all and the noise won't be all that great.
If you know what you're doing with pipework, I reckon you should get yourself a couple of medium cans from somewhere and make up the pipes for a shotgun system.

Sniper...Dont mind me but I got to say the idea is crap! The stock can weighs like the side of a house! Why would you want to double the effect? Now if you were going with something smaller, lighter and with a fruitier sound then maybe. 8)

I was just wonderin thoughts and such, and this is why I posted in the first place, thanks for all your thoughts and I have taken no offense to any replys. The real reason is that I bought an extra can, for 100 bucks and thought I could use it if/ when I dump it..and have been gettin antsy to use it for somethin now instead..i and im a college student so I haven't any money. Thanks again, will definately NOT do it, and will attempt to save for somethin better.

i read on svrider.com about someone who drilled holes in their stock can to make it sound better. Not entirely convinced its a good idea - but as you've got two, you can always swap them over if it goes wrong.

did this to my bike on thursday afternoon! Drilled around the baffle and beat teh snot out of it with a 1.25 inch galvanized pipe nipple. That broke the welds inside the can and I was able to take the entire restrictor out. Then take a 1 inch hole saw on a 18" extension and put it down the 3 holes in the second baffle and drill 3 more holes in the first baffle. Sounds 100% better than stock! Cheap (maybe 6 bucks) and sounds great!
