Prices for new battery required – urgently!
 

I broke down on Friday on my way home from work due to a dead battery, its been on its way out since I brought the bike, even charging it regularly with one of those maximisers the charge just isn’t staying, so anyway, I’ve decided to buy a new battery.

However, I’m having trouble finding one at a decent price, I’m being told they are special because they sit at an angle they are gel filled therefore quite expensive.

Prices I’ve had so far…..

Hein Gerick, Taunton £40.00 inclusive
Bridge in Exeter £45.00 plus VAT

Does anybody know of anywhere cheaper or if these prices are normal?

it's possible it's the charging system on the bike, though you may well be right that it's the battery.

The basic charging can be checked very easily with a multimeter, just measure the volts on the battery terminals. If it's near 12volts without the engine running, sits around 13-14v or so with the lights on and revving at 3-4k then it's probably OK. Less than 13v or more than 15v might be a charging problem.
