errm water

hey all

as some may know i got a new sv this sat.

on the way home it rained heavily when i pulled up there was steam comming up from the rad. not a big deal i thought.

then i looked below the fairings and there was a constant stream of hot water comming from the rad that lasted for a bout 40 seconds. not a lot of water really like a slow running tap

i am assuming that this is just excess water that is caught up if the fins of the rad from the road that is running down now i have stopped ( i hope )

anyone else notice this?

i dont think it is a bust rad but you never know

sounds like a leeking pipe or suming but im sure one of the older people in here will tell ya the problem im sure

No problem and your assumption is correct - scared the sh*t out of me 1st time it happened tho'. I pulled up at the lights after a long wet ride in the country and I dissapeared in a cloud of steam.

Never hurts to check your fluid levels anyway.

Yea I've had that after jetwashing it. Thought WTF is going on, then realised.

Iv had mine a couple of weeks now and have had the same thing happen, steams up the screen as well if the bike is on its stand.

I thought it was a leek to start with but it all seems ok, the temperature has never risen above 100 °C on the display

The bike came back from its 800 mile service yesterday and all was OK.

cyphertheory 06-07-05 04:47 PM

ive had the temp go t0 105 ish when sitting in traffic after a long drive. i dont think that it was to much of a problem.... or is it hehe

it was a hot day too

Carsick 06-07-05 05:31 PM

if you aren't moving it'll keep going well past 105, but it's not an issue unless you plan on letting the bike idle for a long time.
What are you doing getting stuck in traffic anyway?

Def not a prob, just water.

If it is coolent you'll soon know about it, it STINKS when it burns off and leaves a nasty white gunk. I know this thanks to the kind mechanic who put a hole in the radiator of my BabyBlade

Why did you think that your bike was a vegetable?
