(I'm assuming you mean once she has passed her test)
Well since no-one has answered yet.....(!!!!).....For the official kit, it costs £139.95. However, you HAVE to add on the garage costs for this. They can charge you whatever they like, however, most of the time it seems to range from about £30 to £50, sometimes as much as £100! All for a ~20 minute job.
My best bit of advice is that once you have bought a bike, phone insurnace companies and get your best quote. Then ask them what proof they require of 33bhp restriction. Most companies don't really want any proof, however, some will want proof. Some will want any proof and a select few will want the genuine certificate, given to you once a garage has fitted the kit.
If you find a company that just wants any old proof, get a second hand set of restrictors off somewhere like ebay (or any forum), fit the kit yourself (very easy, believe me) and get it put on a dyno for £20-30. They will accept the printout from the dyno as proof. CIA Insurance are an example of such a company that will want SOME/ANY proof.
For a gpz500, it's restricted between the carbs and engine block via the usual washers method. I'm sure I could source down a genuine or aftermarket set of restrictors for you......for free. :) After all, it's basically the same bike as the er5 which I used to own.
All I can say is.....DON'T BUY THE GENUINE STUFF IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO!! It's the biggest rip off you'll ever come across.
You are not legally obliged to have any official paperwork regarding your bikes power output. All that matters is its 33bhp.
