How did Michelle do in her CBT?

Went to pick her up whilst she was still on her ride out. So I saw her return. Biggest smile I have seen since the last outing with BBC. So we are now deciding her way forward ie. to DAS or not to DAS.


Interestingly they went out in two groups. As they returned instructor at the front like ducks they all stopped. The Instructor got off his bike and the guy behind got off his and suddenly his bike lurches forward towards the instuctors. He got off it, engine still running with it in gear and was holding in the clutch to keep it stationary. Michelle told me that she had heard the instructors talking and they were not going to give this individual his certificate unless he did another day with them.

When I dropped her off in the morning, I realised one of the instructors is a drinking aquaintance from 20 odd years ago, so we were having a catch up chat etc. when in rides scooter boy to do his CBT. No L plates either. Doing it on his own scooter. So the instructor asks him when his currrent CBT expires . Never done one. How did you get you scooter her? Rode it. We look at each other and shake heads. "How do you expect me to get it here then?" They had to give him a set of L plates to put on as well.

So, well done Michelle! Mind you, I would love to have seen YOUR face when she came back - I bet there wasn't much difference in grin size!

It's not my personal experience (e&oe, BASAT, RPM, SOR etc) but my Helen will say that she found the bigger bikes much easier. A bit more physical effort required but the bikes themselves were more precise and predictable. Failed her 125 test....sailed thru' on a 500! Now rides with great care and precision, if only because 70bhp needs to be thought about and respected.

But that's only one point of view (biased!).......dunno what the others think.

I second that. Started off on the 125cc course but the instructor kept trying to convince me to do the DAS (don't think it was just the extra money he was angling for :) ). So I had a go on the 500 round the cones to see if I could handle it and it was so much easier and more comfortable!

Plus I would hate to have had to ride restricted for two years!
